2017 – a year in review

Next week will mark the third anniversary of starting Confidence Finance full time.

Packing up & quitting a job that I’d spent years earning was probably the scariest thing I’d ever done.  Now that we’re at the end of the year and at another milestone, it’s a time of year where I naturally find myself reflecting on the achievements we’ve made over the past three years.

Most of you probably know that I love what I do.  Running a business is scalable, fun & creative.  I make decisions, invest, hire & educate, all while doing something that i really enjoy in providing advice about how property investing & credit works.  In saying that, there’s a lot of not so fun things involved in running a business (admin being the main one!).

While we have lots of exciting things to reveal in the coming months, the fast approaching new year marks a great time to reflect on the incredible achievements of the past year.

2017 Achievements:

  • How to Grow a Multi-Million Dollar Portfolio Released. Curtis and I had worked on this for weeks.  We’ve had over 500 downloaders & an amazing response from those that have read this.  There’s certainly more to come on the education front in 2018 and we look forward to continuing to explain how finance works.
  • Curtis promoted to Director at Confidence Finance. Sometimes the key to running a business is knowing who you want your second in charge to be.  To turn a small business into a medium one, its near on impossible to do without great people.  Curtis is brains at Confidence Finance and a sounding board for all decisions we make.  His deserved every bit of his promotion & I’m sure will go on to be one of the best brokers in the country.
  • Desmond hired as Administration Manager. Desmond’s made my life so much easier.  His given my time back.  Sometimes personal decisions, no matter how small or big, can make the biggest difference to a small business’s ability to grow.
  • New website & online presence. We invested in updating our web presence and automation.  We hope this helps communicate our vision better.
  • Awards & recognition. This year we’ve been:
    • Recognised as one of Australia’s youngest ever brokerages to be listed inside the yearly top 100 in by MPA magazine.
    • Highly commended from the Australian Mortgage Awards as Australia’s Best Young Broker.
    • Named inside Australia’s top 30 young brokers.

What I’ll remember from 2017:

I think I’ll remember this year as one where we laid out a clear vision for what we want to become.   My old mentor once said to me you can only become what you can see for yourself.

There was a time last year where it was just long hours processing loans.  I was getting bogged down in doing the day to day without thinking about what I originally wanted to do.  We probably didn’t aim high enough & didn’t spend enough time educating Australian’s about how credit works.

Today, were in the middle of a plan to build Confidence Finance into one of the most successful brokerages in the country.  This will take time of course.  But it will be built on the same principles of education, knowledge and service that have taken us to where we are today.  We’ll need to continue to embrace technology and ‘productivity’ hacks to make it all possible, but we’re all ready to go here & looking forward to our biggest year yet in 2018!

To all of our clients, friends, family – thank you very much for supporting our journey and the work we do.  I couldn’t thank you enough.  I’ve truly been humbled by the response of the people I’ve met and worked with over the last few years.  It’s been a pleasure working for you.

Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year
